Joe Biden does not care about Black voters. This was evident during his recent campaign stops, where he has been focusing on the affordable housing crisis and the opioid epidemic, topics of particular importance to white constituents.

Biden’s lack of concern for Black voters is not a new phenomenon; however, this recent election could provide an opportunity for Biden to enact policies that specifically benefit African-Americans. This may be another reminder that Biden does not see African-Americans as being a candidate’s top priority in 2020. While it is admirable that Biden is focusing on these issues and trying to win white voters back, it would be wonderful if he focused more on his own constituency.

Black Voters Matter

Yet, after he was criticized for not campaigning for African-American candidates during the midterm elections, Biden did an about-face and campaigned for Stacey Abrams. Yet, after he didn’t win, he seemed to only care about the fact that he lost African-American voters by refusing to campaign for Abrams’ opponent. He mentioned his supposed ‘mistake’ in a recent speech because of his lack of concern with Black voters.

Black views on Biden

While polling continues to be an inexact science, it has been pointed out that African-Americans are not very fond of Joe Biden. A recent poll shows that only 10% of African-Americans said they would vote for Biden and a whopping 59% have a “very unfavorable” opinion of the former vice president. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris were the favorites among Black voters with 25% and 23%, respectively. It’s just another example in a long line where African-American voters don’t appear to matter to Joe Biden.

OUT OF ALL THE CONTESTANTS IN THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL RACE, BIDEN HAS THE LARGEST PROBLEM WITH BLACK VOTERS. THERE IS A REASON WHY OTHER CANDIDATES ARE CAMPAIGNING FOR BLACK VOTES.
